The Seed of Life is a figure of seven circles with six-fold symmetry, formed by drawing six circles on the circumference of an original central circle. It is the inner heart of the Flower of Life and represents the seven days of creation in many spiritual traditions. Each circle can be understood as a stage of genesis, from unity through polarity into the fullness of manifest form.
Mark centre point A and draw the first circle. This represents the first day — the void becoming aware of itself.
Mark point B on the circumference of the first circle (at the 12 o'clock position). Place the compass on B and draw a second circle of identical radius. This is the second day — the emergence of duality.
Mark point C where the second circle intersects the first circle (moving clockwise to the upper right). Draw a third circle from C.
Continue clockwise: mark point D where circle 3 intersects circle 1 on the lower right and draw a fourth circle from D.
Mark point E at the bottom of circle 1 where circle 4 intersects it, and draw a fifth circle from E.
Mark point F at the lower-left intersection and draw a sixth circle. Then mark point G at the upper-left intersection and draw the seventh and final circle. The Seed of Life is complete — seven interlocking circles forming six petals around a central form.
