On the morning of the spring equinox, rise before dawn and find a place where you can see the eastern horizon. Stand with your feet bare on the earth if the ground permits it, or simply stand still and breathe. As the first edge of the sun appears, raise your arms with palms open toward the light. Speak a greeting aloud — your own words, or the traditional Nature-Based salutation: "Hail to the sun on the day of balance. May the light that grows carry me forward." This is not performance but participation. The equinox is a hinge in the year, a moment of perfect equilibrium before the scales tip toward summer. By standing witness to the sunrise you place yourself consciously within the wheel's turning. Remain until the full disc is visible, then bow and carry the warmth of that first light into the rest of your day.
The spring equinox has been celebrated across cultures for millennia. From Neolithic passage tombs to Germanic dawn goddesses, the history runs deep.
A guided equinox meditation exploring the interplay of light and dark within. At Ostara, outer balance mirrors an invitation to find inner equilibrium.
